NBA 2K15 came out about 2 months ago and I have picked up the game almost instantly. I had plenty of NBA 2K13 and NBA 2K14 experience, I had a power forward in 13 and a shooting guard in 14. So basically I went creating a small forward in this game and I can say that I could max my myplayer out. Basically in the new game you have development areas instead of small abilities (like 3 point shot, close shot, etc.) So basically you can upgrade: your Shooting, Inside Scoring, Athleticism, Playmaking (& dribbling), Rebounding and Defense. 6 areas and a maximum of 100 available upgrade points. At the beginning you have only about 75 upgrade points unlocked, later on after you played the game again and again new points will be unlocked. Every single area has a maximum of 20 points. Most of the times if you max out a field you will have a 95 rating for example in 3 point shooting.

So basically you can fully upgrade only 5 of the 6 areas. I went with that. I left out rebounding completely and I have maxed out everything. Despite that I have not upgraded my rebounding with a single level I can collect everywhere from 15 to 25 rebounds in a single game with a 6’8 player playing small forward, I think that’s pretty good.

In this game, in NBA 2K15 the story is brand new, there is no Rising Stars game, you will have to make your way into the NBA by getting 10-day contracts. The good news are that you can pick which team you wanna play for, although many teams require an A- or an A excellence in their scrimmage game (which is 6 minutes long and you will be playing with the 2nd team).

So basically you will start out with a character with about an overall 65 rating. There is much to be improved on your player, that’s for sure.

What difficulty level you should play on?

Basically your difficulty level defines how VC much bonus you get after the game. Those points can be spend on upgrading your player or buying player packs in MyTeam. If you play on the Hall-of-fame difficulty level your teammates become unusable, they cannot defend the basked and the other team is just making everything (4 point plays, add-ones, etc.) including extremely difficult fadeaways and closely-contested shots.

I was playing the game on the All-star difficulty level and it was really though to win sometimes even with a character above a 90 overall.

By the way I think you should be playing the game on the difficulty level that You are comfortable with. You should also know that it is highly recommended to play through your first playoffs, because in that way you can get yourself many VCs and take your character to a whole new level.

Which fields must be developed first?

Basically it depends on your playstyle and your selected position.

Small Forwards

If you are looking for a great scorer and playmaker, than this is your position. Your character’s recommended height is from about 6’6 to 6’11, most people go with a 6’8 (LeBron James) or a 6’9 (Kevin Durant) player. I recommend a weight between 250 and 270.

At the beginning I think you should concentrate on the following fields: Shooting, Inside Scoring, Playmaking and Atleticism.

From that package at the very beginning Shooting and Athleticism are the most important ones, because your shooting can decide close games and through using your muscles through pick-and-rolls and dunks you can easily go beyond 40 points a game on any difficulty levels.

Later on you must improve your Playmaking and Defense, because with those ways you can really help your team. If you are using pick-and-rolls and fades Inside Scoring is not really that important.

Shooting Guards

I think these are pretty much have the same roles as Small Forwards: score, score, score& pass.

Power Forwards

You should be able to make your player work below the basket, contest shots, block shots and get rebounds.

Point Guards

You should put more focus on playmaking and shooting.

Centers

You should focus on Inside Scoring, Rebounding and Athleticism.

Badges

Badges are the special abilities of the player. These things came from the old Signature Skills, but in NBA 2K15 you can have them all, so all the badges you have collected are activated on your player every single time you step on the court. This time you cannot buy any badges by spending VC points, you are earning them by playing the game with your MyPlayer. The badges can and should be upgraded by VC points. Some examples of the many badges: Shot Creator, On-Court Coach, Flashy Passer, Unlimited Range, Volume Shooter, Microwave, Closer, Floor General, Defensive Anchor, Sprite Posterizer.

These badges give you smaller boosts and these can also support your teammates too. Maybe the most important is the On-Court Coach badge, which allows you to get the ball anytime you call for it and you can also ask you teammates to shoot.

The game is really inconsistent in giving these badges. I have played my first year, the whole second year including the Playoffs and 48 games of the second year and at the moment I have 35 badges.
